How to Know Which Version of Squarespace You Have
The steps to check your Squarespace version are usually not the same for all Squarespace versions. Some features and functionalities on your website will help you identify your Squarespace version. Let’s explore each one.
How Do You Know You are Using Squarespace version 5.0?
Squarespace version 5.0 lets you log in to your account using your account name, while Squarespace versions 7.0 and 7.1 do not.
If you can log in with your Squarespace account name, you are on Squarespace version 5.0.
Here is how to login to your Squarespace account with your Squarespace account name:
- Type the following URL in your browser. www.accountname.squarespace.com/display/Login Replace “accountname” in the URL with your account name. “Login” in the address must begin with the capital letter L.
- Enter your Squarespace 5.0 account name and password in the fields provided.
- Log in to finish.
How Do You Know You are Using Squarespace version 7.0 or 7.1?
If you cannot log in to your Squarespace account with the step above, check your Squarespace version with the following steps.
Step 1: Log in to Your Squarespace Account.
- Visit Squarespace
- Click Get Started to log in to your Squarespace account.
- You can also click the login button in the top right corner of the Squarespace homepage to log in.
- Enter your email and password in the fields and click log in.
- You can also log in with Google if you use the Google option while creating your Squarespace account.
Step 2: Navigate to the Backend Page of Your Website
Click the picture of your website to navigate to the backend.
You will see different pictures on the page if you have more than one website on your Squarespace account.
Step 3: Click Help From the Sidebar of the Page
From the backend of your site, you will see a list of menu options on the left side of the page.
Click the Help button.
Step 4: Scroll To The Bottom of The Page
After the Help page loads up, scroll down to the bottom of the page.
An inscription at the bottom of the page will tell which version of Squarespace your site is on.
If you see Squarespace version 7.0, your website is on Squarespace version 7.0.
If you see Squarespace version 7.1, your website is on Squarespace version 7.1.
How to Check Your Squarespace Version If You Can’t Find the Side Menu
If you cannot find the side menu from the backend of your website, your website is likely on Squarespace version 5.0.
So how do you check for confirmation?
Check the URL from the address bar of your device browser. If it ends with /login instead of /config, your website is on Squarespace version 5.0.
If the URL ends with /config, your website is on Squarespace version 7.0 or 7.1, and you should see the side menu to the left of your Squarespace backend page.
You may try to refresh the page or use an updated browser.
Squarespace versions 5 and 7 are on different platforms. The URL on version 5 ends with /login but version 7 ends with /config. Versions 7.0 and 7.1 are different versions on the same platform, and you will know the Squarespace version of your website with the steps in this post.
Note that your website is on Squarespace 7.1 version if you created your Squarespace account after March 2020.
